Skiing
The village of Haliburton not only boasts
one of Ontarios most extensive and interesting cross country
ski trail systems, but is also less than a 15 minute drive from
Sir Sams Downhill Ski Resort. Kashaga Lodge is the closest
cottage resort to the town of Haliburton, just a 3 km drive or
ski away.
The Haliburton Nordic Trails Association
is dedicated to providing Haliburtons visitors with a superb
cross country ski experience. The trail system is unique insofar
as there are a wide variety of trail types and difficulty, and
best of all, even though the trails are mostly forest trails,
the system is accessed right from the heart of the village of
Haliburton. Guests at Kashaga Lodge have access to the system
either by a short walk across the road, or by a pleasant 2 km
ski along the shore of Lake Kashagawigamog, to one of the several
trailheads.
Sir Sams Downhill Ski Resort has
12 runs with 6 lifts including 2 quad chairs. There are runs
for every skill level of skier from beginner to expert, and ski
lessons are available daily. Snowboarders have their own run,
featuring manicured tabletops for those who like to go for big
air. Theres a magnificent chalet at the base of the hill
with cafeteria, lounge, four fireplaces, locker rentals, pro
shop, and a huge second level deck overlooking the hills. And
the best part about Sir Sams is there are NEVER BIG LINE-UPS
at the lifts. Guests at Kashaga Lodge receive coupons for 30%
off daily lift passes!
